FLSA Review

ABOUT

The FLSA Review serves as a comprehensive resource for understanding the Fair Labor Standards Act. Our mission is to demystify the FLSA by providing clear, concise, and accessible information about the statute in plain English, ensuring that all stakeholders—including employees, managers, HR professionals, and business owners—have a solid grasp of their rights and responsibilities.

The FLSA Review is structured as a static, continuously maintained knowledge base to overcome the limitations of typical reverse-chronological blog feeds, where critical information and posts often become buried and difficult to find. The FLSA Review is designed to serve as a practical legal reference, receiving regular updates to reflect the latest statutory changes, regulatory guidance, and judicial interpretations.

The FLSA Review was launched by Michael B. Cohen, an award-winning employment law attorney licensed in North Carolina and Virginia. Mr. Cohen has focused his practice on wage and hour class actions since he began practicing law, having successfully represented both both plaintiffs and defendants in high stakes wage and hour claims nationwide. Mr. Cohen has also presented to industry groups and organizations nationwide, authored many publications relating to wage and hour law, and set the record in North Carolina for the highest rate ever granted in a wage and hour contested fee dispute. Prior to starting his own practice, Mr. Cohen practiced with Troutman Pepper Locke, an international law firm with over 1,600 attorneys, and Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, one of the largest labor and employment law firms in the world.
